More T4 Sizzle

We saw a unfinished sizzle reel of "Terminator Salvation" at ComiCon and weren't totally impressed. One of the biggest problems was the total dependence on action and the absolute lack of drama. Then again, it was a teaser reel meant to give undiscerning/easy-lay geeks erections. We wrote that McG, "showcased several action sequences out of context, with a few ill-advised jokes and an agreeable-but-boring "Black Hawk Down" visual motif. It looks as if they blow up many things, in between moments where characters wonder out loud about their 'destinies.' "

How is the new footage stacking up to what many have already witnessed first hand? It doesn't appear much has changed and either "Terminator: Salvation" is going to just be an kick-ass action vehicle for explosive enthusiasts, or Warner Bros. is not bothering to confuse fanboys with things like, soul, drama or plot.

/Film: "I’ve seen so much of 'Terminator' between the various roadshows, on set sizzle reel, and comic con presentation, but I’m still impressed every new pass. The most notable thing about the new extended trailer is a shot of either John Connor or young Kyle Reese holding a photo, THE photo, of Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor from Terminator."

Collider: "The WB presentation was presented by Alan Horn (the President of the Studio) and the first thing he did was introduce McG and then he showed about 5 minutes of “Terminator Salvation”. The footage shown was nothing new, but it still looked pretty awesome to see it on the big screen."

Screencrave: " 'Terminator' looks like a big action film and that’s about it. They did feature some new Anton Yelchin scenes and Sam Worthington’s slightly odd accent. Other than that, I think that we can be assured that there will be a lot of cool action, but I’m not sure about what else. Surprisingly there were almost no new scenes with Christian Bale. Perhaps they’ve showed us all they could without spoiling the film. And still no Helena Bonham Carter! She’s in the film, why can’t we see her?"

Latino Review is a little less forthcoming with up or down thoughts: "Terminator Footage description will have to wait for later," however, they add "Either Kyle Reese or John Conner is holding the picture taken of Linda Hamilton at the end of Terminator. Assuming it must be Kyle Reese. Conner does say that Skynet is using people as guinea pigs for the T-800 model and that they must be stopped or they'll lose the war."

I'm still looking forward to it. And hearing that Linda Hamilton is actually going to be in it (if only as a picture) makes me totally excited.
