The People Vs George Lucas is slated for release in 2010. I don't know why but this movie title makes me incredibly sad. Anyway, here's hoping the movies good anyway.

Flower Impressions

On the way home from work yesterday, I stopped by my friends house and interrupted a game of Fear 2 so I could play another game he recently attained, Flower. I've been excited about this game ever since I heard the 1up guys talk about last year. I played it a bit and then thought about how wonderful it would be to have an open discussion about the game rather than a analytical critique. I wrote some impressions for those of you interested enough to read, but I really just wrote them as an outline for a conversational forum in which we could all talk about the game. Impressions after the break.

My Favorite Movie Posters From 08

Posted by Stuart Feb 13, 2009 0 comments

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I realize we are well into 09 and that 08 is all but a distant memory, at least that's what some of us hope, but I wanted to go ahead and recap last year in movie poster terms. When I was compiling this collection I noticed that I'm drawn to a more graphic style image, which there were plenty to choose from last year.
Here are a few of the posters in no particular order.

These are some really cool set photos from the Watchmen, and yes, I realize it's Watchmen not "The Watchmen." Bah, anyway these look pretty serious, which is a context in which we're not used to viewing super heroes in. So Check out the rest here

Okay, so it's not an itunes podcast...yet. We're working on that. But it's still jam packed full of terse aphorisms. In this episode we cover our impressions of Mirror's Edge, the Oscar race and everything in between. So sit back, kick your feet up and listen to us prattle on.

The crew this week is:

Coming Soon: Metropia

Posted by Stuart Feb 10, 2009 0 comments

Just when you thought Pixar/Dreamworks had the CG movie game on lock, a whole slew of "adult" animated movies are hitting the streets. Fro example, Metropia which as the IMDB synopsis reports:

METROPIA is taking place in a not-so-distant, terrifying Europe. The world is running out of oil and the net of undergrounds has been connected, creating a gigantic web underneath Europe. Roger (Vincent Gallo) from a suburb of Stockholm tries to stay away from the underground. He thinks it's unpleasant and sometimes he hears a strange voice in is head
One day Roger finds out that his life is controlled in every detail. He tries to break free. To succeed he needs super-model Nina (Juliette Lewis) to help him. Or is it maybe Nina that needs Roger?

Sounds nice. This one hits Sweden 10.9.09 which means I'll be able to see it in a theater around 2010. :(

McG Says Arnold in T4...Kinda

Posted by Stuart Feb 9, 2009 0 comments

McG dropped another hint that would have us believing that The Governator himself is going to show up in T4 in one form or another. I've always felt that it would make sense to just scan him in and use his digital likeness to represent the T-800. That way he would only have to be there a day or two during the whole production run and he could stay governor. But apparently McG wants the younger Arnold in the movie. But how...?
From The Playlist:

"The T800s as we know them look like Arnold [Schwarzenneger]. The T800 plays a big role in this movie.. I can't quite tell you how we express that, but I will tell you the following: I think when you make a Terminator movie the responsibility of our team...is to push special effects forward. So what we're trying to do is create visual effects and write code that's never been written before to address this very question. It is not clear if we will be successful or not, so we're working very diligently on going up to ILM in Sn Francisco because soon to address this very nature because... let me just hint at this: I don't want today's Arnold Schawzenneger. Cheers [to him], but I just want idealized Griffith park, Bill Paxton, tire-track on a face on-the-face archetype, and we'll see what we can do about that."

So maybe Arnie won't actually be in the movie but it sounds like his digital doppelganger will be.

I finally beat this frigin' game. Catch up on my closing thoughts here. This segment is going to be a permanent feature on my blog, so I'll be back shortly with a new game and a new diary. Again, thanks to everyone who read.

Also, check out how weird this game looks in third person. Strange.

Panasanic goes 3D

So, the home entertainment biz wants to catch up with the movie theater biz. Or at least Panasonic does. It appears that they are developing plans to bring the 3D theater experience home via Blu-Ray by 2010. I guess this is to be expected, but I wonder what movie theaters will do in response to bring the revenue back. Smell-O-Vision?
